Introduction to Mass Communication
Stanley Baran, "Introduction to Mass Communication"
English | 2018 | ISBN: 1260397254 | PDF | pages: 805 | 58.4 mb
In today's media rich world, Introduction to Mass Communication keeps media literacy and culture at its core. Using examples of the past to show how mass communications got their roots, and keeping current with the present's emerging technologies and trends, Introduction to Mass Communication gives students a deeper understanding of the role media plays in both shaping and reflecting culture. By understanding and evaluating the ways in which media convergence is changing the landscape of media today, students are encouraged to think critically about their own roles in society as active media consumers. Through this cultural perspective, students learn that audience members are as much a part of the mass communication process as are the media technologies and industries. The tenth edition maintains its commitment to enhancing students' critical thinking and media literacy skills. New and updated material, such as the 2016 Presidential election and the use of social media to link fans with artists and their music, reflects the latest developments in digital technologies, and highlights the most current research in the field.

Introducing Algorithms in C A Step by Step Guide to Algorithms in C
Introducing Algorithms in C: A Step by Step Guide to Algorithms in C by Luciano Manelli
English | January 29, 2020 | ISBN: 1484256220 | 159 pages | MOBI | 8.61 Mb
Study elementary and complex algorithms with clear examples and implementations in C. This book introduces data types (simple and structured) and algorithms with graphical and textual explanations. In the next sections, you'll cover simple and complex standard algorithms with their flowcharts: everything is integrated with explanations and tables to give a step-by-step evolution of the algorithms. The main algorithms are: the sum of three or n numbers in a loop, decimal-to-binary conversion, maximum and minimum search, linear/sequential search, binary search, bubble sort, selection sort, merging of two sorted arrays, reading characters from a file, stack management, and factorial and Fibonacci sequences.

Internet of Things Systems Design Lab Book
Internet of Things Systems Design Lab Book
English | 2023 | ISBN: n/a | 105 Pages | PDF (True) | 55 MB
This IOT LAB BOOK is primarily compiled to support the university courses on Internet of Things: Systems Design at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. But you can follow the tutorials without attending the course. This lab book guides you through a series of labs. Each lab has its objectives. It is expected that you should be able to complete each lab session within two hours (most of the time, much less). This lab book does assume that you have some amount of networking knowledge. Further, it is important to mention that IoT, by nature, is a broad subject. Therefore, in a few lab sessions, we cannot teach you all the topics in-depth. For example, Arduino programming use C/C++ programming languages. However, we do not expect you to be an expert on C/C++ to follow the lab session. However, if you have some background, you will find some known concepts in action and feel comfortable. If you have never seen C/C++ before, you will, of course, feel nervous and sometimes will feel lost.

International Peacekeeping
International Peacekeeping By Boris Kondoch (editor)
2007 | 610 Pages | ISBN: 0754623955 | PDF | 22 MB
Peacekeeping has been the technique most frequently used by, and associated with, the United Nations to end conflicts and to preserve peace. In addition, international and regional organizations have also performed peacekeeping functions. Since the establishment of the first UN peacekeeping mission, UNEF I, in 1956, international lawyers have raised questions about the legal aspects of these operations. Traditionally, they analyzed the constitutional basis for peacekeeping and tried to allocate the authority under the UN Charter for peacekeeping among the Security Council, the General Assembly and the Secretary General. They discussed the use of force by peacekeepers, the applicability of international humanitarian law, as well as the responsibilities and liabilities of peacekeepers. Since the end of the cold war, peacekeeping operations have become more complex. In the first forty years, peacekeepers functioned mainly as buffer zones between warring parties and monitored cease-fires. Nowadays, they are increasingly engaged in internal rather than international conflicts and perform a multitude of tasks. Among others, they act as civilian administrators, oversee elections and monitor human rights. These changes have raised new legal problems. Which human rights obligations exist for peacekeepers? Do peacekeepers have to intervene if they witness war crimes and acts of genocide? How are they protected under international law? What is the legal framework of UN administrations like in Kosovo and East Timor? In order to enhance a better understanding of these legal issues arising from peacekeeping operations, a collection of articles written by the leading experts in the field have been compiled in the volume, International Peacekeeping.

International Law and Post-Conflict Reconstruction Policy
International Law and Post-Conflict Reconstruction Policy By Matthew Saul (editor), James A. Sweeney (editor)
2015 | 354 Pages | ISBN: 1138780111 | PDF | 4 MB
The trend for international engagement in post-conflict reconstruction has produced a host of best-practice postulates on topics such as local involvement in decision-making, accountability for past atrocities, sensitivity to context, and the construction of democratic institutions of governance. International law has potential relevance for many of these themes, yet the question of how the implementation of best-practice policy recommendations might be affected by international law remains under-examined. This book offers a fuller understanding of the role of international law in the practice of post-conflict reconstruction. It explores how international legal issues that arise in the post-conflict period relate to a number of strands of the policy debate, including government creation, constitution-making, gender policy, provision of security, justice for past atrocities, rule of law development, economic recovery, returning displaced persons, and responsibilities of international actors. The chapters of the book work to reveal the extent to which international law figures in the policy of internationally enabled post-conflict reconstruction across a range of sectors. They also highlight the scope for international law to be harnessed in a more effective manner from the perspective of the transition to peace and stability. The book lays out a basis for future policy making on post-conflict reconstruction; one that is informed about the international legal parameters, and more aware of how international law can be utilized to promote key objectives.

Interactions of Polymers with Bioactive and Corrosive Media
Interactions of Polymers with Bioactive and Corrosive Media
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9067641626 | 317 Pages | PDF (True) | 37 MB
Natural polymers have always been used in medicine. However, the development of synthetic polymers for use in medicine has occurred only in the last few decades. The successful applications of these synthetic polymers in medicine depend mainly on their physico-chemical and special characteristics such as biological compatibility with tissues, stability, durability and elasticity. This book deals mainly with the kinetic and structural aspects which are essential for the realization of these characteristics. The authors have examined in detail the processes of diffusion, chemical and biological diintegration, changes in various structural levels induced by chemical and biological media, and the problems of simultaneous influence of these media and mechanical strains on polymers used in medicine. Researchers in the field of polymer physics and chemistry, as well as those who are working with applications of polymers in medicine and biology should find this book useful.
