Free Download Sigmund Freud, "Freud Verbatim"
English | ISBN: 1468309633 | 2014 | 176 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Despite the intense opposition he encountered during his life, this "explorer of the unconscious" exerted an irresistibly stimulating effect on contemporary thought. As the founder of psychoanalysis and the creator of such commonly used terms as ego, superego, and id, Freud has had an unrivaled impact on the modern world. Freud Verbatim is a collection of quotes, maxims, observations, and witticisms by Freud on subjects ranging from politics and religion to love and sex. In addition to assembling passages from Freud's major works, this collection also makes use of personal letters to his friends and family. Organized into ten thematic chapters, this compilation, in a handsome two-color printed format, provides a representative look into all of Freud's work. Thus the quote, by its nature only a part, nonetheless speaks for the whole.

English | ISBN: 0522877834 | 2022 | 232 pages | PDF | 6 MB
When Australian women's liberationists challenged prevailing expectations of female domesticity, they were accused of being anti-mother and anti-child. Feminism and the Making of a Child Rights Revolution provides a much-needed reassessment of this stereotype. Drawing on extensive archival research and personal accounts, it places feminists at the forefront of a new wave of children's rights activism that went beyond calls for basic protections for children, instead demanding their liberation. Free Download Father Joe: The Man Who Saved My Soul By Tony Hendra
2005 | 304 Pages | ISBN: 0812972341 | EPUB | 1 MB
A key comic writer of the past three decades has created his most heartfelt and hard-hitting book.Father Joeis Tony Hendra's inspiring true story of finding faith, friendship, and family through the decades-long influence of a surpassingly wise Benedictine monk named Father Joseph Warrillow.Like everything human, it started with sex. In 1955, fourteen-year-old Tony found himself entangled with a married Catholic woman. In Cold War England, where Catholicism was the subject of news stories and Graham Greene bestsellers, Tony was whisked off by the woman's husband to see a priest and be saved.Yet what he found was a far cry from the priests he'd known at Catholic school, where boys were beaten with belts or set upon by dogs. Instead, he met Father Joe, a gentle, stammering, ungainly Benedictine who never used the words "wrong" or "guilt," who believed that God was in everyone and that "the only sin was selfishness." During the next forty years, as his life and career drastically ebbed and flowed, Tony discovered that his visits to Father Joe remained the one constant in his life-the relationship that, in the most serious sense, saved it.From the fifties and his adolescent desire to join an abbey himself; to the sixties, when attending Cambridge and seeing the satire ofBeyond the Fringeconvinced him to change the world with laughter, not prayer; to the seventies and successful stints as an original editor ofNational Lampoonand a writer ofLemmings, the off-Broadway smash that introduced John Belushi and Chevy Chase; to professional disaster after co-creating the legendary English seriesSpitting Image; from drinking to drugs, from a failed first marriage to a successful second and the miracle of parenthood-the years only deepened Tony's need for the wisdom of his other and more real father, creating a bond that could not be broken, even by death.A startling departure for this acclaimed satirist,Father Joeis a sincere account of how Tony Hendra learned to love. It's the story of a whole generation looking for a way back from mockery and irony, looking for its own Father Joe, and a testament to one of the most charismatic mentors in modern literature. From the Hardcover edition.

Free Download Emission Reduction with an Alternative Diesel Combustion Process
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3658420936 | 152 Pages | PDF (True) | 4 MB
Marvin SaschaWahl presents the possibilities for optimising diesel engine combustion. In the advanced process of partially premixed diesel combustion, nitrogen oxide and soot emissions can be minimised at the same time. A new feature is the possibility of applying this strategy up to 2000 revolutions and 10 bar indicated mean pressure. In this work, various effective parameters are also compared and correlated with each other. A final comparison with conventional diesel combustion shows the advantages and disadvantages and evaluates them.

Free Download Edith Stein and Companions: On the Way to Auschwitz By Paul Hamans
2010 | 310 Pages | ISBN: 1586173367 | EPUB | 1 MB
On the same summer day in 1942, Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) and hundreds of other Catholic Jews were arrested in Holland by the occupying Nazis. One hundred thirteen of those taken into custody, several of them priests and nuns, perished at Auschwitz and other concentration camps. They were murdered in retaliation for the anti-Nazi pastoral letter written by the Dutch Catholic bishops. While Saint Teresa Benedicta is the most famous member of this group, having been canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1998, all of them deserve the title of martyr, for they were killed not only because they were Jews but also because of the faith of the Church, which had compelled the Dutch bishops to protest the Nazi regime. Through extensive research in both original and secondary sources, P.W.F.M. Hamans has compiled these martyrs' biographies, several of them detailed and accompanied by photographs. Included in this volume are some remarkable conversion stories, including that of Edith Stein, the German philosopher who had entered the Church in 1922 and later became a Carmelite nun, taking the name Sister Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.Several of the witnesses chronicled here had already suffered for their faith in Christ before falling victim to Hitler's "Final Solution", enduring both rejection by their own people, including family members, and persecution by the so-called Christian society in which they lived. Among these were those who, also like Sister Teresa Benedicta, perceived the cross they were being asked to bear and accepted it willingly for the salvation of the world.Illustrated
