Mechanisms of Cross-Boundary Learning
Free Download Mechanisms of Cross-Boundary Learning By Nobutaka Ishiyama, Yoshinobu Nakanishi, Kenta Koyama, Hiroshi Takeshita
2019 | 175 Pages | ISBN: 1527537773 | PDF | 4 MB
This book reveals the mechanism through which adults learn through boundary-crossing experiences. Boundary crossing, though defined in various ways, refers to activities in which persons belonging to different organizations collaborate in a context different from their workplace. While boundary crossing attracts researchers and practitioners as a platform for adult learning, previous analysis of its mechanism has been insufficient. To address this research gap, this text reviews literature on theories related to boundary crossing on an interdisciplinary basis, and empirically analyses the mechanism of learning through boundary crossing and associated job crafting. It also explains the concepts and techniques of the Modified-grounded theory approach (M-GTA) in order to facilitate easy understanding among researchers and practitioners in management and organization research. While job crafting is one of the research topics attracting a large number of researchers today, there is a lack of empirical studies on this topic. This book addresses cases in Japan where various experimental projects are in progress. However, noting the fact that the labor market and human resource management (HRM) practices in Japan are not as different from other countries as is usually said, its findings can be applied to other settings across the globe.

Boundary Control of Flexible Three-Dimensional Euler-Bernoulli Beams
Free Download Ning Ji, "Boundary Control of Flexible Three-Dimensional Euler-Bernoulli Beams "
English | ISBN: 9811900787 | 2022 | 239 pages | EPUB | 67 MB
This book focuses on vibration suppression of flexible three-dimensional Euler-Bernoulli beams modeled by PDEs. Boundary control strategy and several control methods are proposed to stabilize the closed-loop system. Besides, some common engineering problems such as input constraint and output constraint are also considered in the control scheme design. This book offers a comprehensive introduction of the modeling process, controller design, stability analysis and numerical simulation. The detailed MATLAB codes in each chapter are also provided, which can make readers better understand the control flow of the system. This book is mainly targeted for researchers, senior undergraduate students and postgraduate students in the field of control theory and control engineering.

Planning the Portland Urban Growth Boundary The Struggle to Transform Trend City
Free Download Sy Adler, "Planning the Portland Urban Growth Boundary: The Struggle to Transform Trend City"
English | ISBN: 087071211X | 2022 | 272 pages | EPUB | 975 KB
In this companion volume to his 2012 book Oregon Plans: The Making of an Unquiet Land-Use Revolution, Sy Adler offers readers a deep analysis of planning Portland's Urban Growth Boundary. Required by one of Oregon's nineteen statewide planning goals, a boundary in the Portland metropolitan area was intended to separate urban land and land that would be urbanized from commercially productive farmland. After adopting the goals, approving the Portland growth boundary in 1979 was the most significant decision the Oregon Land Conservation and Development Commission has ever made, and, more broadly, is a significant milestone in American land-use planning.

Boundary Writing An Exploration of Race, Culture, and Gender Binaries in Contemporary Australia
Free Download Boundary Writing: An Exploration of Race, Culture, and Gender Binaries in Contemporary Australia By Lynette Russell (editor)
2006 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0824830059 | PDF | 2 MB
Have globalization and the emergence of virtual cultures reduced cultural diversity? Will the world become homogenized or Americanized? Boundary Writing sets out to demonstrate that this oversimplification denies the reality that today there is greater space for cultural diversity than ever before. It explores the desire to categorize individuals and collectivities into racial, ethnic, gender, and sexuality categories (black and white, men and women, gay and straight), which is a feature of most Western societies. More specifically, it analyzes the boundaries and edges of these categories and concepts. Across nine chapters, contributors reveal that such binaries are often too restrictive. Through a series of case studies they consider how these various concepts overlap, coincide, and at times conflict. They investigate the tension between these classifications that in turn produce individual speaking positions. Many people―indigenous, native, Anglo-settler, recent migrants of diverse ethnic backgrounds, gay, transgender, queer―occupy an "in between" position that is strategically shifting with the social, political, and economic circumstances of the individual. In Boundary Writing, the reader will journey through various complex permutations of identity and in particular the ways in which indigeneity, race, sex, and gender interact and even counter-act one another.Contributors: Erez Cohen, Aaron Corn, Bruno David, Neparrna Gumbula, Michele Grossman, Myfanwy McDonald, Clive Moore, Stephen Pritchard, Liz Reed, Lynette Russell.
