2019 | 160 Pages | ISBN: 1080471588 | PDF | 2 MB
Is the Loch Ness Monster real? What about other water-cryptids? Is there any such thing as a Sasquatch or Yeti? Do large cats and demonic black dogs roam the English countryside? What are the sinister Black Eyed Children and the shadow beings that terrify so many? Are vampires real? Is lycanthropy plausible? Do UFOs exists and if so, what are they? In this follow-up to the seminal first work of 'Towards a Conquest of the Paranormal', Ansir Levi here turns his attention away from hauntings and the activities of spirits. Focussing now upon the phenomena of cryptids, mythical beings, and UFOs, Levi here further develops his profound hypothesis as to the nature of such and provides the answers to the questions above. Levi's study, like his earlier works and his musings that feature on the 'Inquirers into the Strange' podcast, is an indispensable asset in the arsenal of all who date to inquire into the paranormal and the truth as to the nature of our reality. For those who undertake practical investigations, Levi provides a framework of inquiry upon which to base their work. The overarching hypothesis of Levi is of equal value to all who take a philosophical approach, especially those who are open to the notions of Keel and Vallee.

The Platonic Heritage Further Studies in the History of Platonism and Early Christianity
Free Download John Dillon, "The Platonic Heritage: Further Studies in the History of Platonism and Early Christianity"
English | 2012 | pages: 333 | ISBN: 140944662X, 1138110337 | PDF | 14,1 mb
This third collection of articles by John Dillon covers the period 1996-2006, the decade since the appearance of The Great Tradition. Once again, the subjects covered range from Plato himself and the Old Academy, through Philo and Middle Platonism, to the Neoplatonists and beyond. Particular concerns evidenced in the papers are the continuities in the Platonic tradition, and the setting of philosophers in their social and cultural contexts, while at the same time teasing out the philosophical implications of particular texts. Such topics are addressed as atomism in the Old Academy, Philo's concept of immateriality, Plutarch's and Julian's views on theology, and peculiar features of Iamblichus' exegeses of Plato and Aristotle, but also the broader questions of the social position of the philosopher in second century A.D. society, and the nature of ancient biography.

From Persons to People Further Studies in the Politics of Population
Free Download From Persons to People: Further Studies in the Politics of Population By William Petersen
2003 | 250 Pages | ISBN: 0765801701 | PDF | 25 MB
Problems associated with aggregation and classification are the underlying theme of this book. When data assembled from individuals are presented as group characteristics, this process has logical complications. Racial profiling and ethnic discrimination are obvious examples of the problem. Petersen's book analyzes in general how information from "persons" turns into statistics about specific "people." The book is divided into two parts covering population and ethnicity. The first two chapters in part 1, on population statistics and the age-sex structure, are the foundations for any demographic analysis. Chapter 3 is a brief review of the interminable debate over whether the subsistence of mankind is on the point of depletion. The three following chapters are on population theory as expounded by Malthus, Marx, and Communists. Chapters 7 and 8 discuss the competition between parents and the state concerning which of the two shall decide on procreation. Chapter 9 is an account of population at the frontier, using Nevada as a prototype. The last chapter in part 1 is a proposal, to moderate the endless debate about abortion. The first two chapters in the second part of the book concern methods for analyzing ethnicity that are essential for a full understanding of demography: how and by whom ethnic groups are defined. The next chapter discusses some of the many subdivisions of European nations, countering the analyses of European unity with the fact that most of its regions are not themselves homogeneous. In a number of instances American statistical agencies have used surnames to identify nationalities, with invalid results, as the author shows in the next chapter. "Jews as a Race" is an attempt to counter Nazi dogma with a rational analysis of a contentious topic. The subsequent chapters compare Japanese and Chinese Americans as small but fascinating minorities and analyze the social consequences of religion from theoretical and factual viewpoints. The last chapter summarizes the conclusions to be drawn from these topics. Demographers, sociologists, and statisticians, as well as those generally concerned with social policy, will find From Persons to People useful and courageous-the hallmark of the dean of sociological demography. .

Centered Riding 2 Further Exploration
Sally Swift, "Centered Riding 2: Further Exploration"
English | 2014 | ISBN: 1570766886, 1570762260 | 272 pages | EPUB | 13.7 MB
Centered Riding is not a style of riding as are dressage, hunter seat, or Western. Rather, it is a way of reeducating a rider's mind and body to achieve greater balance in order to better communicate with the horse. Founder Sally Swift revolutionized riding by showing that good use of the human body makes a world of difference on horseback. Early in her work, she established what she calls the "Four Basics" - centering, breathing, soft eyes, and building blocks-which, together with grounding, are the main tenets of her method. When a rider learns and maintains these basics, then harmony between horse and human is possible.

Since 1947, Stephen M. Schwebel has written some 200 articles and book reviews on topics of international law, international arbitration and international relations. This volume brings together thirty-two of the legal articles and commentaries written since the first volume of his essays was published in 1994. The essays analyze contentious issues of international arbitration and international law such as the place of preparatory work in interpreting treaties, the role of a judge of the nationality of a party to a case sitting in judgment in the International Court of Justice, and the meaning of the term 'investment' in ICSID jurisprudence. Together with his unofficial writings, his judicial opinions are catalogued in the list of publications with which this volume concludes.
