Classical and Celestial Mechanics The Recife Lectures
Free Download Hildeberto Cabral, "Classical and Celestial Mechanics: The Recife Lectures"
English | ISBN: 0691050228 | 2002 | 408 pages | PDF | 23 MB
This book brings together a number of lectures given between 1993 and 1999 as part of a special series hosted by the Federal University of Pernambuco, in which internationally established researchers came to Recife, Brazil, to lecture on classical or celestial mechanics. Because of the high quality of the results and the general interest in the lecturers' topics, the editors have assembled nine of the lectures here in order to make them available to mathematicians and students around the world. The material presented includes a good balance of pure and applied research and of complete and incomplete results. Bringing together material that is otherwise quite scattered in the literature and including some important new results, it will serve graduate students and researchers interested in Hamiltonian dynamics and celestial mechanics.

Lectures on Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integration
Free Download Lectures on Quantum Field Theory and Functional Integration
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031307119 | 397 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 16 MB
This book offers a concise introduction to quantum field theory and functional integration for students of physics and mathematics. Its aim is to explain mathematical methods developed in the 1970s and 1980s and apply these methods to standard models of quantum field theory. In contrast to other textbooks on quantum field theory, this book treats functional integration as a rigorous mathematical tool. More emphasis is placed on the mathematical framework as opposed to applications to particle physics. It is stressed that the functional integral approach, unlike the operator framework, is suitable for numerical simulations. The book arose from the author's teaching in Wroclaw and preserves the form of his lectures. So some topics are treated as an introduction to the problem rather than a complete solution with all details. Some of the mathematical methods described in the book resulted from the author's own research.

The 1-2-3 of Modular Forms Lectures at a Summer School in Nordfjordeid, Norway
Free Download Jan Hendrik Bruinier, Gerard van der Geer, Günter Harder, "The 1-2-3 of Modular Forms: Lectures at a Summer School in Nordfjordeid, Norway"
English | 2008 | ISBN: 3540741178 | PDF | pages: 273 | 2.8 mb
This book grew out of three series of lectures given at the summer school on "Modular Forms and their Applications" at the Sophus Lie Conference Center in Nordfjordeid in June 2004. The first series treats the classical one-variable theory of elliptic modular forms. The second series presents the theory of Hilbert modular forms in two variables and Hilbert modular surfaces. The third series gives an introduction to Siegel modular forms and discusses a conjecture by Harder. It also contains Harder's original manuscript with the conjecture.

Lectures on Phase Field
Free Download Lectures on Phase Field
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031211707 | 192 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 17 MB
This open access textbook fills a gap, in that it introduces readers to the theory and applications of the Phase-Field technique. Phase Field, over the years, has emerged as a standard tool for materials research, just as the Finite-Element technique has in structure mechanics. Whereas the few existing textbooks on this topic are intended for advanced readers, this one is made accessible to the widest possible audience, through an engaging, lecture format. The content grows out of a course the authors teach for graduate students at Ruhr-University Bochum. Even readers who may, at first, have no clue at all what a "Phase Field" is and for what it is used, are invited on a journey from general physics of thermodynamics and wave mechanics, through applications in all fields of materials science, up to the central questions of physical being. On this journey all the necessary techniques are detailed, mostly formulated in a mathematical language easily understood by engineers and natural scientists.

Lectures on Hyperbolic Geometry
Free Download Lectures on Hyperbolic Geometry by Riccardo Benedetti , Carlo Petronio
English | PDF | 1992 | 343 Pages | ISBN : 354055534X | 28.07 MB
In recent years hyperbolic geometry has been the object and the preparation for extensive study that has produced important and often amazing results and also opened up new questions. The book concerns the geometry of manifolds and in particular hyperbolic manifolds; its aim is to provide an exposition of some fundamental results, and to be as far as possible self-contained, complete, detailed and unified. Since it starts from the basics and it reaches recent developments of the theory, the book is mainly addressed to graduate-level students approaching research, but it will also be a helpful and ready-to-use tool to the mature researcher. After collecting some classical material about the geometry of the hyperbolic space and the Teichmüller space, the book centers on the two fundamental results: Mostow's rigidity theorem (of which a complete proof is given following Gromov and Thurston) and Margulis' lemma. These results form the basis for the study of the space of the hyperbolic manifolds in all dimensions (Chabauty and geometric topology); a unified exposition is given of Wang's theorem and the Jorgensen-Thurston theory.

Lectures on Cosmology Accelerated Expansion of the Universe
Free Download Lectures on Cosmology: Accelerated Expansion of the Universe by Georg Wolschin
English | PDF (True) | 2010 | 188 Pages | ISBN : 3642105971 | 3.55 MB
The lectures that four authors present in this volume investigate core topics related to the accelerated expansion of the Universe. Accelerated expansion occured in the ?36 very early Universe - an exponential expansion in the in ationary period 10 s after the Big Bang. This well-established theoretical concept had rst been p- posed in 1980 by Alan Guth to account for the homogeneity and isotropy of the observable universe, and simultaneously by Alexei Starobinski, and has since then been developed by many authors in great theoretical detail. An accelerated expansion of the late Universe at redshifts z< 1 has been disc- ered in 1998; the expansion is not slowing down under the in uence of gravity, but is instead accelerating due to some uniformly distributed, gravitationally repulsive substance accounting for more than 70% of the mass-energy content of the U- verse, which is now known as dark energy. Its most common interpretation today is given in terms of the so-called CDM model with a cosmological constant.

Hegel Lectures on the History of Philosophy Volume III Medieval and Modern Philosophy
Free Download Robert F. Brown Brown, "Hegel: Lectures on the History of Philosophy: Volume III: Medieval and Modern Philosophy"
English | 1990 | ISBN: 0520068122, 1376886820, 0199568944 | PDF | pages: 335 | 5.4 mb
Hegel's lectures have had as great a historical impact as the works he himself published. Important elements of his system are elaborated only in the lectures, especially those given in Berlin during the last decade of his life. The original editors conflated materials from different sources and dates, obscuring the development and logic of Hegel's thought. The Hegel Lectures series is based on a selection of extant and recently discovered transcripts and manuscripts. The original lecture series are reconstructed so that the structure of Hegel's argument can be followed. Each volume presents an accurate new translation accompanied by an editorial introduction and annotations on the text, which make possible the identification of Hegel's many allusions and sources. Hegel's interpretation of the history of philosophy not only played a central role in the shaping of his own thought, but also has had a great influence on the development of historical thinking. In his own view the
