Linear and Nonlinear Optical Responses of Chiral Multifold Semimetals

Since the initial predictions for the existence of Weyl fermions in condensed matter, many different experimental techniques have confirmed the existence of Weyl semimetals. Among these techniques, optical responses have shown a variety of effects associated with the existence of Weyl fermions. In chiral crystals, we find a new type of fermions protected by crystal symmetries - the chiral multifold fermions - that can be understood as a higher-spin generalization of Weyl fermions.

Dual Variational Approach to Nonlinear Diffusion Equations
Free Download Dual Variational Approach to Nonlinear Diffusion Equations
English | 2023 | ISBN: 3031245822 | 212 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 18 MB
This monograph explores a dual variational formulation of solutions to nonlinear diffusion equations with general nonlinearities as null minimizers of appropriate energy functionals. The author demonstrates how this method can be utilized as a convenient tool for proving the existence of these solutions when others may fail, such as in cases of evolution equations with nonautonomous operators, with low regular data, or with singular diffusion coefficients. By reducing it to a minimization problem, the original problem is transformed into an optimal control problem with a linear state equation. This procedure simplifies the proof of the existence of minimizers and, in particular, the determination of the first-order conditions of optimality. The dual variational formulation is illustrated in the text with specific diffusion equations that have general nonlinearities provided by potentials having various stronger or weaker properties. These equations can represent mathematical models to various real-world physical processes. Inverse problems and optimal control problems are also considered, as this technique is useful in their treatment as well.

Some Nonlinear Problems in Riemannian Geometry
Free Download Some Nonlinear Problems in Riemannian Geometry by Thierry Aubin
English | PDF (True) | 1998 | 414 Pages | ISBN : 3540607528 | 33.23 MB
During the last few years, the field of nonlinear problems has undergone great development. This book consisting of the updated Grundlehren volume 252 by the author and of a newly written part, deals with some important geometric problems that are of interest to many mathematicians and scientists but have only recently been partially solved. Each problem is explained, up-to-date results are given and proofs are presented. Thus, the reader is given access, for each specific problem, to its present status of solution as well as to the most up-to-date methods for approaching it. The main objective of the book is to explain some methods and new techniques, and to apply them. It deals with such important subjects as variational methods, the continuity method, parabolic equations on fiber.

Machine Learning Control - Taming Nonlinear Dynamics and Turbulence
Free Download Machine Learning Control - Taming Nonlinear Dynamics and Turbulence by Thomas Duriez , Steven L. Brunton , Bernd R. Noack
English | EPUB | 2017 | 229 Pages | ISBN : 331940623X | 4.4 MB
This is the first textbook on a generally applicable control strategy for turbulence and other complex nonlinear systems. The approach of the book employs powerful methods of machine learning for optimal nonlinear control laws. This machine learning control (MLC) is motivated and detailed in Chapters 1 and 2. In Chapter 3, methods of linear control theory are reviewed. In Chapter 4, MLC is shown to reproduce known optimal control laws for linear dynamics (LQR, LQG). In Chapter 5, MLC detects and exploits a strongly nonlinear actuation mechanism of a low-dimensional dynamical system when linear control methods are shown to fail. Experimental control demonstrations from a laminar shear-layer to turbulent boundary-layers are reviewed in Chapter 6, followed by general good practices for experiments in Chapter 7.

Nonlinear Waves From Dissipative Solitons to Magnetic Solitons
Free Download Nonlinear Waves: From Dissipative Solitons to Magnetic Solitons
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9811967431 | 892 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 116 MB
This book highlights the methods to engineer dissipative and magnetic nonlinear waves propagating in nonlinear systems. In the first part of the book, the authors present methodologically mathematical models of nonlinear waves propagating in one- and two-dimensional nonlinear transmission networks without/with dissipative elements. Based on these models, the authors investigate the generation and the transmission of nonlinear modulated waves, in general, and solitary waves, in particular, in networks under consideration. In the second part of the book, the authors develop basic theoretical results for the dynamics matter-wave and magnetic-wave solitons of nonlinear systems and of Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in external potentials, combined with the time-modulated nonlinearity. The models treated here are based on one-, two-, and three-component non-autonomous Gross-Pitaevskii equations. Based on the Heisenberg model of spin-spin interactions, the authors also investigate the dynamics of magnetization in ferromagnet with or without spin-transfer torque. This research book is suitable for physicists, mathematicians, engineers, and graduate students in physics, mathematics, and network and information engineering.

Efficient Nonlinear Adaptive Filters Design, Analysis and Applications
Efficient Nonlinear Adaptive Filters: Design, Analysis and Applications
English | 2023 | ISBN: 303120817X | 415 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 60 MB
This book presents the design, analysis, and application of nonlinear adaptive filters with the goal of improving efficient performance (ie the convergence speed, steady-state error, and computational complexity). The authors present a nonlinear adaptive filter, which is an important part of nonlinear system and digital signal processing and can be applied to diverse fields such as communications, control power system, radar sonar, etc. The authors also present an efficient nonlinear filter model and robust adaptive filtering algorithm based on the local cost function of optimal criterion to overcome non-Gaussian noise interference. The authors show how these achievements provide new theories and methods for robust adaptive filtering of nonlinear and non-Gaussian systems. The book is written for the scientist and engineer who are not necessarily an expert in the specific nonlinear filtering field but who want to learn about the current research and application. The book is also written to accompany a graduate/PhD course in the area of nonlinear system and adaptive signal processing.
