On September 26, 2022, a gas spill on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline was tracked down in the Baltic Sea southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm. A couple of hours later, two extra openings were found on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline toward the upper east of the island. The two pipelines, communicating with Russia and Germany, were closed due to Russia's 2022 assault on Ukraine, and the breaks happened one day after Poland and Norway opened the elective pipeline Baltic Line going through Denmark.
